December 2020 The Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC) becomes capable of running executive operations of up to 2,500 troops, equivalent to one EU battle group, and 3 non-executive missions.
2017 The Director General of the European Union Military Staff (DGEUMS) began simultaneously serving as Director of the Military Planning and Conduct Capability, becoming the single commander for all non-executive military missions and exercising command and control over three training missions.
2016 The European Union Global Strategy was presented by High Representative Federica Mogherini and welcomed by the European Council. As part of its implementation, the Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC) was established, granting the European Union Military Staff (EUMS) the ability to directly command military operations.
