June 10 2019 Sworn in as prime minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) after receiving 87 votes out of 97 legislators in the Kurdistan parliament, leading the ninth cabinet.
December 3 2018 At a KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party) leadership meeting, Masrour Barzani was named as the candidate for Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region by party spokesperson Mahmoud Mohammed.
May 2016 Authored an op-ed in the Washington Post advocating for an 'amicable' separation of Iraqi Kurdistan from Iraq, calling Iraq 'a conceptual failure' and announcing the beginning of talks with the Iraqi Government leading up to a referendum.
