March 2024 A preprint on BioRxiv provided new insights into Visigoth genetic origins, demonstrating that most of their ancestry derives from Southern Europe, with some Iberian Gothic samples showing approximately 50% northern European genetic connections to populations from the Baltic Bronze Age and regions associated with Slavic population spread.
